The Hunna: 'Flickin' your hair' to the Rock’n’Roll Beat
Musicians are tearing away from using instruments in their music, But not these guys.
If you haven't heard of The Hunna, they are an alternative rock band based in london. They peaked their 2016 album “100” at the top ten in the United Kingdom. They broke into the United States music scene when they toured in the US the summer of 2016.
The Hunna Break into 2018, close to immediately with their most recent single “Flickin’ your hair” released in the second week of January. This song brings back the nostalgia of the grunge era with their own unique twist. With a strong Rock n Roll beat, and emotional lyrics that can take anyone back to the years of smashing pumpkins peak of their career. Their singing however, is more reminiscent to bands like the 1975 and other alternative bands. This song encompasses something that teenagers with a pop punk/emo part of them will love. The song is rock and roll, but at the same time pop. Their song is unique and demonstrates the type of direction they are headed in.
The production is exquisitely done, you can hear the balance of the instruments paired with the lead singers vocals that harmonizes in a pleasing tone to the ear. Something that is key to a good production of music is for all of the instruments, including the vocalist, is balanced. When the band over powers the vocalist it gives the song a confusing feeling when you listen to it. Balance is key with a well produced song, and this song had an amazing
element of balance. Good production, brings up the energy and the quality of the song itself. The energy of the song alone, was exactly what an artist needs in a single. It is energetic, and exciting in a way of which the target audience will want to dance or ‘head bang’. Their target audience is definitely they’re fans for the most part, who love their rock influenced hits such as this one.
